Have you ever wanted to have a school pet? A school pet provides opportunity for scientific study on a daily basis in your room. Even more importantly, a school pet provides support for the emotional needs of many students. They are great listeners, speak all languages and  always care. Attend this session and find out how you can get a school pet and habitat for little to no cost to you. (Pet grants are available for classrooms and other support staff such as social workers and SLP.)

Mindfulness In The Classroom
Friday August 30, 2024 1:25pm - 2:15pm CDT
340
Today's world is full of packed schedules and high expectations.  The number of students with anxiety is increasing.  What can teachers do to help students self regulate and become more confident? In this workshop we will discuss mindfulness and the importance of focusing on the present rather than dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.  I will share movements, breathing techniques, and strategies that you can bring into your classroom to support your students (and yourself).  You will leave with ideas you can implement right away as well as resources you can explore if you want to dig deeper.
